About The Shirish Patel Christmas Toy Drive is an annual event coordinated by members of the Saint Ignatius Student Senate. Students, faculty and staff bring in toys to be distributed as Christmas gifts for children in the neighborhoods around Saint Ignatius who otherwise might not receive any gifts from Santa. Members of the Senate organize the homeroom toy assignments, sort gifts, wrap presents and then distribute them with Santa's help during Christmas in Our Community Day. In 2015, Rakesh (Rocky) Patel '96 endowed the toy drive with a 10-year perpetual gift in honor of his faither, Shirish. This gift will maintain or replace Santa suits, provide refreshments for school children, and fund supplies for gift-wrapping, photos and more. |
